Mini First Aid was founded in January 2014 by mum of six, Kate Ball, with a mission to deliver high-quality baby and child first aid classes to parents and carers. Since then, the business has grown rapidly and now trains over 2,000 people every week across the UK in basic and life-saving first aid.
Our multi award-winning classes are designed to be relaxed, accessible, and confidence-boosting - giving you the knowledge and skills to act in a medical emergency. We offer sessions for the whole family, including parents, grandparents, carers, and even children as young as three.
In 2021, Kate and her husband Matt appeared on Dragons’ Den and secured investment from Sara Davies MBE. Since then, Mini First Aid has continued to expand, including the development of our own range of brilliant first aid products, now stocked in major retailers.
Mini First Aid classes are CPD-accredited, and we are proud members of the First Aid Industry Body. We also provide a comprehensive range of certified first aid courses for those needing formal qualifications. As the UK’s leading provider of paediatric first aid, we are passionate about empowering families and professionals alike with essential first aid skills.
Hi, I'm Ross, father to three young daughters and co-franchisee of Dorset Mini First Aid with my wife Sam. Like many, I was first introduced to first aid skills through the Scouts, and while studying for my A Levels I taught first aid classes on behalf of another company to students at numerous colleges, as well as to Scouts and Guides. I come from a military background, and I have been taught to deliver first aid in various scenarios. I truly believe first aid skills should be known by all, and I enjoy sharing my knowledge and experience to give others the confidence to step in and help those in need of first aid treatment.
Hi, I’m Sam. I am a mum to 3 young girls – Amelia (5), Imogen (4) and Natalie (6 months). I have worked within the Dental industry for the past 10 years as a Dental Nurse, a Practice Manager, and most recently providing dental practices with their annual training programs. Training is something I am extremely passionate about, and I truly believe that knowledge is power. Since becoming a mum to two very accident prone children (the third is too young to know yet!) it became very apparent to me that my training was the thing that enabled me to keep my cool and know exactly what to do. This is when I took the decision to get the message out there to as many child carers as possible and empower the next generation to deal with these situations. I joined Mini First Aid over 3 years ago as a trainer and am thrilled to now be a joint franchise owner of Mini First Aid Dorset and East Somerset.
Hi I’m Dave. My background is in policing having served as a police officer for 30 years in Surrey before becoming a public and personal safety and first aid trainer as a member of police staff. In this role I taught first aid to new recruits, experienced officers, specialist teams, and volunteers using a mix of theory and scenario-based training. I am also dad to three grown up boys and so have navigated the journey of childhood illnesses, grazes, bumps, and bruises. I hold a Post Compulsory Education and Training Certificate in Education and am passionate about first aid training and making it as relevant and enjoyable as possible. I get huge job satisfaction in passing on my knowledge, skills, and experience to new learners.
I am currently a front line paramedic working for SWAST, my previous experience includes as a combat medical technician in the Army Reserves completing full time attachments, and I have worked as a PGCE certified PE and dance teacher. I am married with a 6 year old daughter and live in Poole. I am very passionate about teaching and facilitating learning, to ensure individuals have the knowledge and skills to feel confident in providing essential life saving first aid.
I love cats, caffeine, creativity and I am a proud mum. My career has taken me through a mix of industries, from childcare and retail to marketing and the charity sector. In 2021, I followed my passion for writing, creativity and social media by completing a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Digital Marketing while working at a creative agency. Since then, I’ve gained experience with podcast and social media agencies, as well as in communications, marketing, and fundraising for a mental health charity. My husband and I first discovered Mini First Aid when we took a class before weaning our son. I was nervous about choking and wanted to feel confident and prepared. As a mum, finding a role that’s both meaningful and flexible is so important, and Mini First Aid has given me exactly that. I’m thrilled to be part of the team!
