Following the deaths of two young school friends close to her husband during their gap year, Sue Fisher (Mini First Aid Dorset, East Somerset and South Wilts) was inspired to establish Adventurer First Aid, a groundbreaking first aid course. Adventurer First Aid provides training for extreme injuries in extreme situations.

Sue says:

“What happened to Nick and George is every parent’s worst nightmare. My husband and I had been talking for a while about doing something positive.  We wanted to help young people fully prepare for exciting times ahead, whilst at the same time giving them the first aid skills to deal with emergency situations in far flung places.”

Sue teamed up with Terry Bastyan, former Royal Marine Warrant Officer who is now a Search & Rescue Paramedic. Together, they have developed and delivered the Adventurer First Aid course which is now offered to young people in other parts of the UK as part of Mini First Aid.

Adventurer First Aid is a fun and interactive practical course, designed to fully prepare young people for adventure travel and give them the skills and confidence they need should extreme injuries and accidents occur.

The 6-hour course focuses on key skills for adventure travel and includes emergency first aid medicine, ‘global awareness’ training as well as survival and rescue techniques.
